Residents of Boiketlong in Sebokeng, south of Johannesburg, want to be addressed by President Jacob Zuma, not Gauteng premier Nomvula Mokonyane.

"We want Msholozi [Zuma] himself not Nomvula," said resident Shimane Mohau on Friday.

"Zuma must come and see what his ANC was doing to its people."

Mokonyane was expected to address the community of Boiketlong on Friday, as residents continued to barricade roads with stones and burning tyres.

The protests started on Wednesday when one person was shot dead.

Residents were demanding decent housing. Police continued to monitor the area.
